I put snes9x on my psp and tried to play Chrono Trigger and it's running insanely slow. It says that the CPU is going at 222Mhz and I overclocked up to 333Mhz and it's still just as slow.

Am I doing something wrong?

Change the frame rate to like 1 or 2, it will be fine after that.

Actually it's called just "frameskip". And with 333mhz and frameskip at 1-2 most games run full speed. At least mario world runs perfectly at frameskip 1, at least with snes9x_tyl. Try that, it's the fastest snes emulator around.

That's the emulator I'm using. Somewhere it said that running it at 333MHZ could hurt the psp. Any truth to this? I'm using the memory stick that came with it. If I used my PRO duo stick that is in my camera could it make it go faster? I know the PRO duo has a faster transfer rate than the plain duo.

It's not about transfer rate, but framerate. So changing memorycard doesn't help. It shouldn't hurt psp, it was designed to run at 333mhz, it was just capped to 222mhz for longer battery life. I think that gta: lcs will run at 333mhz,so it shouldn't be harmful. At least I haven't heard any problems when using 333mhz.
