I am uisng OS10.4.2, mactheripper 2.6.6, and toast 6 titanium. My cd burner is the Sony DRX 710UL. I tried doing my first dual rip today. I got some Ridata DVD+R DL, and I tried burning a backup copy of Sin City. It got all the way to the end of the rip, and I got an error:
The drive reported an error:
Sense Key = ILLEGAL REQUEST
Sense Code = 0x72, 0x03
SESSION FIXATION ERROR - INCOMPLETE TRACK IN SESSION.
I have done successful rips on regular DVD-R before. (title only).I did the same thing I have done in the past. First use Mactheripper, and do a full extraction. Then just drag the folder, which contains the Video_TS and Audio_TS folders, to toast. I made sure that I had Data selected, then DVD-ROM (UDF). I selected 1x burn, then when it got to "Finishing", I got the error above. After I clicked ok on the error, it asked if I wanted to verify the disc, and I said yes, and then I let it finish, and everything went fine. I played it on my G5 and it played fine, then I tried it on my Denon 3910, standalone dvd player, and it would not play back. I also tried it on a Panasonic DVD palyer, and no luck. I was told that someone had been able to successfully get the Verbatim DVD+R DL to play back in there Denon 2910. Any ideas?
One more thing, the dvd that I successfully backed up onto a DVD-R would not play on my computer, but plays fine on my Denon 3910. This does not concern me, because I want to paly it on my Denon. I just thought that it was kind of strange. Also, when I did the DVD-R burn, there was a .df file that I had to delete. When I did the DVD+R DL, I never saw the .df file?
Any ideas?

Hi,
I have use the verbatim dl disks and the worked just fine. I used Nero if that helps. One problem you could have is that your dvd player might not play +r's. If so you can change the booktype bitsetting code so the dvd will be read as a dvd-rom disk.

I'm not a mac user and not familiar with the software you have to use with it but anyway, make sure the firmware for your dvdrw drive is current and booktype your DVD+R media to dvd-rom (your sony is capable of booktyping/bitsetting).

I was told, in this forum, thatDVD+R DL would pl;ay in my Denon, and that someone had actuall used the Verbatim DVD+R DL in a Denon 2910, the little brother of the 3910. Can you explain booktyping? I do not recall seeing that anywhere in Toast. I believe that Nero came with my Sony dvd drive, so I could use that if I needed to.

On the final burn settings window in Nero click options then under booktype setting in the dropdown menu select DVD-ROM.

It does not look like Nero works on a Mac. So, any ideas on how to booktype on a Mac?

I posted the original question that I posted in this thread a couople of days before I posted here, and know one has yet to respond. I have searched for booktyping in that forum also, and nothing. I did just post there about the booktyping. I ahve to waite and see if anyone wil respond to that.
