I tried using and s-video cable to connect my laptop to my tv. This is my first attempt. The problem I saw is the desktop on the TV had very bad graphics and was almost impossible to read. However, when I put a movie in, it seemed to have good quality. Is this normal? Also, what is the best way to get good sound quality. My only sound out is a headphone jack. I saw usb sound out that is suppose to enhance the quality, but does it or is there also a better way to get sound out?

I am choosing a laptop because it is portable and can take it and connect to other tv's. So if there is new hardware i should consider for the laptop I will.
