Hi all.
I bought 100 memorex 8X DVD-R a while back, Ive burnt about 65, most with the Panasonic E85H. All Good.
Now, I cannot write any.
2 days ago, one was at 49% and it stuck there, the red bars indicated it was writing, but it went no further. From then , all Memorex DVD-R's failed in the first 10 seconds. Identically, after i start a burn, and the red bars go back and forth 4 times, the drive noise goes quiet, and it has an "Error Occured", and ends up after it Self Check with the Check Disc message.
What bothers me is:
1. The Memorex burnt fine for many burns.
2. The start of this was a failure in a partly burned disc
3. Then, they fail early.
Other media is fine.
4. This morning, I tried it again, and it burnmt one Memorex successfully, I didnt have time to try others.
5. I have burned two Memorex discs on the PC and all ok
6. Tonite, they all fail again.
This sudden failure nis a concern, especially the bway that the first failure occured mid-burn, this indicates a problem occurred, that has now caused these discs to fai, to burn, whereas before they were not a problem.
I realise that Memorex arent great, but they have been fine in the E85H.
Does anybody have any clues or ideas, or reasons? It seems to me that the drive is now weaker than before, and as Memoresx arent great this apparent weakness has dropped them off the readable map.
So, if this is broadly a possibility. other burms may work fine, but may not be burnt as well as they should be?
I have a 5 year warranty, but I would rather know what is the cause, rather than just getting it fixed. This is assumimg that Panny will accept the burning issues with the Memorex discs, as others work ok still.
