i bought a dvd recorder to transfer some vhs to dvd & some "dvd" to dvd...but the problem is they play fine in a stand alone dvd player but when i try to play them on my computer it doesnt always play right...then i tried running the disc thru shrink but it gives a cyclic redundancy error..which is weird because i used fuji dvd+r which are really good media..i have 2 dvd players on my computer...win dvd and nero showtime but they act up in both..any ideas??

Humm thats is weird usally it plays on a PC before a standalone player

You might try DVD dash Rs instead of DVD plus Rs and see if that helps. the FujiFilms should be fine DVD plus Rs will code out as Taiyo Yudens so i wouldnt think that would be the problem but you might try another brand to see, try Verbatims DVD dash Rs

and try a store brought DVD to make sure your programs are both working right on your PC

the dvd recorder i have says to use dvd+r's to burn to..however it says it will play -r's ...all i personally use to make my movies on my computer are the maxell -r's ..i only got the +r's for the stand alone dvd player but even though the stand alone recorder says use +r's i will try the -r's anyway...here's a link to the recorder i got.

DVD Recorders (standalone) are weird like that sometimes. I think it only plays them because that's what was used to record them (unless you were talking about a different DVD player). Try it out in different standalone players, try burning some DVDs using your computer (ie DVD Shrink) on the same media, just to try to troubleshoot your problem.

@squizzle i already have burnt over 100 fuji's -r on my computer...they work flawlessly..i tried calling the company but all they do is put you on hold forever..i'm going to try some -r's in the recorder instead of +r's and im also going to try not finalizing a disc & see if that works...but the recorder is pretty good because i didnt have to buy a video stabilizer or whatever they are..it copied some movies that i couldnt copy using shrink..and movies with protection.
