Don't know how much help I can be as I am new to this program and experienced many failures before finally getting a good one. This all I can say is look at the Quickstart Guide sticky, it is the most helpful. Make sure you have installed AviSynth and CCE before Rebuilder and then install RB and choose the CCE you have and it will be installed. The installer is the best route to go. I was unable to make any playable version using HC or Qenc, the only backup I made was using CCE 2.5 and pointed the installer to that ver. The only thing is that it has the big logo in the corner. Finally, just bought the Basic ver and that works. I am sure others can give you more advice than me. If you are getting the error about the no M2V it has to do with CCE not being installed properly or not a working ver. But that is my opinion as I said I too am still learning. Good Luck.

did you preprocess your source material in any way?

the numbers in your reduction levels do not indicate that we deal with untouched source material

ArnieBear: Thanks for the pointers. I´ll try Basic.

The material is both; processed and unprocessed. One movie was downloaded, the other straight out of a comercial DVD.
I´ve downloaded several versions of CCE. I intend to try them all. I also think will reinstall everything. I heard that CCE had to be installed AFTER DVDR. We´ll see. Thanks.

From the quickstar guide
Quote:
2.
In case you want to use CCE or PROCODER as your encoding engine, install them now/before installing dvd rebuilder

Especially the Freeware INSTALLER version will ask for the encoder path during installation
As far as CCE Basic the trial version will only give you a few minutes of encoding, you have to buy it to get the program to really work. The 2.5 version worked well which is what I used for trial, except for the logo. When you buy the Basic no more logo.

@pumalite, did you DL the installer for the free Rebuilder and use that? That includes everything you will need. I personally believe that the Pro version is worth every dime ($10.00 donation) and haven't had any issues with that and CCE Basic running with it. I think HC Hanks is the best free encoder on the planet. I always encourage everyone to use the installer package as it does everything you just have to direct it to the CCE (If you have it...trial will only encode 3 mins of the movie).
MovieDud

1. Rebuilder Pro 1.00 RC 6 with CCE Basic and HC Hanks
2. Intervideo Copy 3
3. Recode 2
4. CloneDvd2

That's my list of favorite programs and I base using them on the amount of compression...mostly I will place several movies on HD and use batch encoder in Rebuilder for 3-4 jobs to be done throughout the night.

Hello, I agree on the use of the installer it makes things very easy for setup. Still can't get that HC to work, wish I could figure it out.

I am using DVD-RBPro/HCEnc. I read the instructions thoroughly 2-3 times BEFORE even attempting an install... I followed them explicitly, including installing/configuring free version and THEN installing Pro over that, and I have had no problems...

@arniebear, good morning my friend. You know when I first began using Rebuilder I had issues with HC Hanks. The video would not be there, then I uninstalled everything. Then re-installed with the current Program and now when I use it with HC I use the preview when the encoder is running just to see if the movie can be seen on the preview window. I see it everytime. Works great just figuring out what might cause it to not work is the issue. I know that the team at Dvd-Rb has worked very hard to fix the latest issues and bugs so as to get it ready for release. Is the path to the HC Hanks set up properly? This shouldn't be an issue since the instaler normally does this, the only question typically you have to answer is where is the CCE Basic, or Trial CCE. I'll check and see how mine is set up and try to help. Good to hear from you and I'll get back to you soon.

CCE is working fine, have done several movies using it and it works out great. But the HC is another matter, the path is correct but the finished product turns out like this

Tried it three times, and gave up, have ordered a new comp from Dell and it should be here in a week and a half or so. Will see if that changes anything.

@arniebear, that's exactly what mine was doing. It was doing it on the older computer (Intel Celeron, 3.3 GHZ.) but I reinstalled and it began working. I also checked this using that free prog. dvdreasy (which uses HC Hanks) and at first saw the same picture, but after reinstalling the program it worked fine. How is your HC Hanks set up on your system. When I go to options and under HC Hanks I have it set to BEST and the one pass analysis (CQ) and that's it. All the things for bitrate are set to deefault for each encoder. I'm not that brilliant when it comes to some of the finer details so I just leave those the same and typically use the best for each encoder. How are your encoders set up?

@MovieDud

Not looking at my big PC so I will say that I have the HC at normal and then 1 pass. I just have the path setup just the way the installer did it. Other than that I am not sure if it is some other conflict. Right now have a P4 2.4 and 1g or ram with a 128 meg ATI Video. New on will have P4 3.4 2g of ram and 256 ATI video. Will see if this makes any difference. The only odd thing on my current comp is Ligos Indeo Video Drivers which are used for an older game. I can't imagine these conflict they never have before.

I know that in the past when I had issues with the Hanks encoder I mentioned this at the Dvd-Rb site and someone asked if I had avisynth installed correctly, I said I did due to the fact that I had the installer and the installer includes alll of the latest updates. I have on my main system a AMD 64 3200+ 512 mb Ram, 1600 FSB, 2.20 GHZ. The Rebuilder prog. works faster on this system than it did on the Intel Celeron system, beyond that everything is set up exactly the same. Not for sure why Hanks would be a problem excpet it has a lot to do with the avisynth. I'll check that out and get back to you. If you are like me I like everything to run properly and even when I use CCE I want the other encoders to work properly. I'll check it out my friend and get back to you.

I got the pro package and installed exactly as it said. When things didnt work I started changing things. Thats why I have go to basics now.As axample a got a massage that said: F:\D2VAVS\item.ecl as not a ECL for CCE SP Works Version.(?) Another: ERROR: File V0100000001001 shows completed, but no M2V file exists. Aborted. I will reinstall again, installing CCE first. What do you guys think of the fact that it all stops after PREPARATION? I have tried HC too without results. The version of CCE that came with the package didnt seem to work. Any suggestions? I´d appreciate it.

@Pumalite

I installed a trial version of CCE 2.5 which I can't remember at this moment where I got. However, when I installed RB it will ask the path to CCE you must pick out your correct version and then direct RB to that, and you have to decide according to what ver. you have if you need the EclPro. Here is a quote from the guide
Quote:
Some words on the *Pathes*:
- CCE versions 2.5x ? 2.6x require ECLCCE.exe to be adressed instead of the cce*.exe itself!
- CCE 2.70 MUST not be adressed via ECLCCE.exe ? link to the cce*.exe!
- Procoder must be adressed via ECLPRO.exe
- Hank3125?s HCEnc needs: hcBATCH.exe

Don?t be mislead by the fact that you?ll see the link to CCE 2.50 in my screenshot adressing the (required) eclcce.exe inside a CCE 270 path ? the eclcce.exe can be placed anywhere you like but this exe will have to link to the very cce*.exe (2.50/2.67/2.69) that you want to use

I suggest to check the *Special Settings* like my screenshot shows ? do not forget to check *run encoders minimized*!

@MovieDud

I have done a reinstall using another ver of AVI Synth but have not tried HC since that install, will give it a go and see if it works. At least CCE is working and I have that one. I did try the Qenc but the file came out too big, why I do not know. Since I am learning this program I am saving trying to figure this one out til later.

Arniebear: I knew about ECLCCE.exe. I used it with CCE 2.6.x(didnt work) I have now installed CCE version 2.70.x. I checked my DVDR, HC has its batch file. I´ll just keep on trying. It must be in the settings.

@arniebear, I like QuEnc, but it is slow compared to the other two...I like doing the two pass, but it is slow. I have been very impressed with HC Hanks (Hard to believe it's free yet it looks good, even compared to CCE). For the majority I still stick with CCE (I paid for it and so I use it). Sorry this issue hasn't been resolved.

Which version of AviSynth are you using because I got told not to use anything newer than 2.5.5. I had the 2.5.6 version installed when I had problems the first time and switched to the 2.5.4 and it works very well.

Well I got my AviSynth from AD and they have the 2.56 beta and got told on another forum that RB won't work with that one. That is all I can tell you. I went and installed the lesser one and it is working good.
