Hello, all.
I am new to this whole Nero and DVD thing, though I have been a system admin for 15 years. I hope you guys can help me. Below is my Nero Error Log.
There are a couple of errors in the log. Particularly, an error on script line 311. I already seached the previous posts for the answer, but to no avail. Said threads indicate that it may me a media error. I was using Staples DVDs. But after reading the posts, I switched to "Maxell DVD+R High Grade" media. Yes, my drive is a DVD+R drive.

- unfortunately you have one of those annoying generic drives, ie "DVDRW IDE 16X". you're logfile has given a clue, that yours is a BTC drive of some description, ie Quote: Book Type request [BTC]: DVD+R
. can you give me more info re the model of the burner as these drives drive me barmy ?
my quote from a thread with a similar drive - Quote: god i hate these generic drives, this could be one of a few different drives.
- luckily it looks like a BTC drive of sorts, so we're getting closer....
a-ha, snippet from another thread - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/213588 - Quote: I have an Iomagic (BTC/LG) DVDRW IDE 1008IM drive
- so yours might be one of these drives, pls let me know exactly which drive you have...
Quote: CdRomPeripheral : SAMSUNG CD-R/RW SW-252B atapi Port 0 ID 0 DMA: On
CdRomPeripheral : DVDRW IDE 16X atapi Port 1 ID 0 DMA: On
DiskPeripheral : ST3160023AS 3.18 UlSata Port 2 ID 0 DMA: Off
- i don't know too much about SATA yet other than the speed it runs at, though i suspect DMA needs to be ON. What you have to do to re-enable it i'm not sure, you could try this - http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/FAQ.htm
Quote: Can only write at 4x instead of 8x, because speed of source data is too slow
- a-ha, there's a big clue, your hard drive must need DMA enabling then as it's not providing data quickly enough
