I am trying to burn the file PrincessMononoke.mpg to Dvd using nero, but it just won't go. The file itself is 4.28GB, so it should fit fine on a normal DVD, but whenever I load the file to burn it to DVD using nero, the file size suddenly increases to a whopping 5.78GB. Nero reccomends decreasing DVD quality and all this crap, which only decreases the size by like .25GB if that. So I just need some help, maybe another program could burn the file better I dunno. Thanks in advance for any type of reply, BB.
then you need to use DVD Shrink (free from software section at top of page, as are guides) on the directory created by Nerovision. make sure 'target size' is set to 4300MB in DVD Shrink. then your movie will be the correct size, and will avoid the outer edge of discs
K, when you say NeroVision directory, you mean the .nvc file it creates when you save a project in NeroVision? I have a program, AVI DivX MPEG to DVD Converter and Burner Pro. .mpg files are supported by it, so I'm gonna try that out. Result: AVI etc. program increases the file size too, I dunno what's happeneing but obviously I need to use DVD Shrink, so I'll look into tt.
divxtodvd will convert the mpg into dvd format, ie you end up with 2 directories, the pointless and ever-empty audio_ts folder, plus the important video_ts folder than has the converted movie in various files. You need to open DVD Shrink, point it towards this directory, make any adjustments you need to make (as i said before hopefully you've set target size in Shrink to 4300MB) and this will output to the directory of your choice. The idea is that you end up with a new directory with a size of no more than 4300MB. burn to a dvd, job done..
