Hey guys, you know the fan in the computer...usually the noisy part...well is there anyways to make it kinda' quieter?..like which one to buy?
My sister has a laptop...and they are so quiet compared to desktops..I wanna' make my fan in the desktop more quiet...

if you go into a computer shop you must know the model of your processor and the fan will be labelled with "silent" or "quiet" but if you ask a person there if there is one should be fine they will give you the right one if not then just find out your model of processor and just look about on the internet for a suitable one that is either for your exact model or above your model never go under your model and as i said it will be labelled with silent or something

yes as that is a socket a cpu not socket 939 which is different size.

the cpu fits a socket A(462pin) not socket 939 which is a newer board.

dude what ru talking about..
all i asked was about the fan thing and some guy replied saying..find out your processor and u should be able to go on from there.
I typed in what i think is my processor and now you are coming out with all thie socket stuff...
keep it simple man

different cpu's use different size sockets to fit in so the heatsink fan assembly are accordingly different size & mounts differently. the socket 462 which yours is, the heatsink attaches to the socket at either end but the socket 939 for the newer boards attaches the heatsink fan assembly differently. so if get the wrong mounting type assembly, you'll have to take it back to get proper 1.

ok but why would i get a wrong one if u've just pointed out the socket number...?!?!
also i just opened my computer..which one should i get rid of?...there r two fans?..
one on the motherboard...which is chunkier..and another which is on the back panel and seems to connect to the hard-drive which is mounted at front...thnx ddp

the 1 on the motherboard is the cpu heatsink fan assembly.
