I bought a dell computer about 1 year ago and the speakers were working great, now i plug them in and the most noise the computer makes is a beep. Not from speakers. How do install the speakers?

don't do anything drastic, when it could be something minor.

assuming you are running windows,

double click the volume icon on the taskbar at the bottom right hand corner.

make sure that all the boxes with 'mute' next to them are empty, and the 'master volume' should not be at the very bottom.

if you have any other problems like you don't run windows, or it still isn't working, send me a pm or post a reply. ;)

p.s - check they are plugged in! ...

I find this interesting as I hae a similar problem. Had my wife's PC in for a new motherboard and when it came back it worked, perhaps a bit slower than before, but NO SOUND. I don't want to drank the darn thing back to the shop and her not have it for another 2 weeks.

I did the double-click on the tray voume and all are mute and sound is on. I had a set non-powered speakers in each of the 3 outlets and same with a powered pair and still no cigar.

Anything else I should try before returning it to the shop? Thanks all

They should NOT be mute! do the mute boxes have green ticks in them?

make sure the green boxes are empty and all of the sound levels are not at rock bottom. failing success i would take it back to the shop.

Let mw know how you get on.
