I am attempting to copy AVI's to DVD-R medium using Nero Burning ROM V7 on a Pioneer DVR 109 with the latest firmware. I get inconsistent failures using various disc stocks. Is there something that you folks can decipher in this log file as to my settings or a "fix" for the problem? I have had successful burns followed by a failure using the identical source file?
Help!!

@ ketut hi :)
not to good yet at logs but from what i see
check your DMA settings are on
the media looks good
but a big no no for me is the burn speed at 12x
keep it at 4x to reduce the possibility of errors
we need creaky here i'll see if he's around

I am attempting to copy AVI's to DVD-R medium using Nero Burning ROM V7
----------------------------------------------------------------------

you will need to convert your AVI's to a DVD compliant format (MPEG2) first.

Nero 7 has not been released yet as far as I know. Has it?

I tried a couple of 12X burns with the same media and had failed burns. The Taiyo Yuden 8X will show a max burn speed of 12X. My suggestion is to simply slow the burn speed down as gurnard suggested. Notice that the burn failed three minutes into the burn.

The "Queue again later" message is normal for Pioneer writers. A normal burn will generate a lot more.

Data in burst cutting area is usually not present on a blank DVD. You can see it on commercial DVDs though. Look near the center and you will see sort of a bar code near the inner edge of the recorded area. On a commercial DVD it will be up against the inner edge of the label. That is where the burst cutting area is located, even if there is nothing there.

Yes, I figured that out.

You may want to edit out your "serial number", wouldn't want anyone to nick it.

It's the number that starts with SC8000************************.
