I've had a Ricoh MP5240A burner for a year and a half now, and it's been flawless up until the last couple of months

When I burn a DVD, (using Nero) it seems to burn OK, but will fail verification. The burned discs seem to be fine in a different DVD-ROM drive. I've copied all the files from a burned disc back onto the hdd and ran NoClone on them and the original files from the hdd. NoClone does a bitwise compare, and found the files to be identical.

Essentially, the burned discs don't work in the burner, but seem to be OK.

I've tried a different IDE cable and tried putting the burner in a different system with the same results. Only variable I haven't changed is Nero. I've also tried cleaning the lens with a CD lens cleaning kit.

Do I need a new burner? I could live with only being able to use the burned discs in a different drive for a while. I know burners are cheap but money's tight at the moment.

Is there a different laser being used for burning and reading? If so, then I feel safe enough to continue using the burner.
