Ive had this problem with only one pc in my house, all the other work fine, with tested ports and they get good download speeds and green health indicator.
When i got a new pc, i could not download at great speeds and my health indicator always stays blue and never changes and ive tried this on over 100 torrents. Also when i go to test my NAT/Firewall, i type the port 6881 and i get "Unable to test".
I have chaged ports in my router but i still get the same unable to test and a blue face.
I do know how to port forward becuause ive done it for the other pc's in the house and those pc's are going through different ports.
Anybody know anthing???

Same thing is happening to me to
File 1 348.6 MB 68.5% done Seeds 11(10) Peers 10 (19) Down 7 kB/s up 6kB/s total 84.3 kB/s avail 13.98

File 3 350 MB done 40.2% down 6 up 6 titak 36.8 avail 6.999
All BLUE, not green do not know why
I have done port forwarding on my linksys router
have open the ports and allowed java and Azureus to run as a server on my zonealarm pro firewall
Set my max connection to 25kB/s (abt 80% 256 kbps max upload speed)
not using the 6881 port
forwarded and open firewall for 6969 as well....
Is there anything I can do to get the speeds that some of you are getting ie > 30-60 kB/s

What is teh tracker status on your torrents? I would try a very well seeded and popular torrent, I notice that in your swarms listed, they have very low total speed for the number of people connected.
I can't think of any other solutions at teh moment...Did you try directly connecting without a router yet?

This is a dead give away to your problem, the tracker is rejecting you. Unknown host errors mean you need to register at a site, usually the one where you got the torrent.

OK im having a similar problem (actually i would say the same problem).
My port test in az is OK! and i am able to download and upload but i only ever have the blue face, the only real difference is I have "checking" constantly in the tracker section. Im pretty sure the tracker isnt updating my stats either which is the main reason i want to fix this as my ratio is gunna get me kicked if i dont fix it soon.
The tracker shows me as connectable but i think something else is going on.
Thanks for your help

Hi Razor,
I avg between 20 kB/s download speed (range is huge 0 - 45kB/s) and my trackers are from sites where I have registered
I have connected without a router, configured the zlp to allow the ports I am using for both udp and tcp, allowed Azureus and java to operate as a "server" on zlp and have capped my global uploads at 25kB/s (80% of my theorectical max). I have also used the patch to increase the max connections for xp sp2.
There was once that I hit 90 on one torrent for about an hour or so and I was mainly downloading from bros in the same country ....
I often get the blue smiley face (I do not not have a problem with the yellow presumably cos I connect direct to the modem and do not have a port forwarding issue ? )
A few questions:
1) anything wrong with my settings ?
2) Can I do anything to consistently get the > 50kB/s that people on the forum are reporting they can regularly achieve
3) Why do I often get blue trackers with errors like connection (timeout?)
Thanks so much for your assistance

I use a Lynksys WRT54G router and after reading post after post and trying everything, I finally decided to experiment on my router and with Azureus. Finally, last week I got it working right, green smileys and no nat error when I run test. I'm not sure "exactly" what fixed the problem but I can tell you what I done and perhaps it will help you. If you do and it works, please say so in post for everyones benifit.
First, I went into the Azureus "connections" tab and cleared the address box where it says "bind to local IP"
Second, I went into my router and "CLEARED" all of the port forwarding under the gaming tab .(uncheck boxes)
Third, I went to "port triggering" under the gaming tab and typed in Azureus and the port that I'm using 6882 in all the boxes, and then enable.

Did you put the port that your using in "port triggering" as I mentioned in step 3 ? Azureus only uses one port. Also, have you enabled upnp in your firewalls ?
It is also worth mentioning that norton antivirus can disrupt your p2p program regardless of whether the firewall is enabled or not.

Big Ed, I have had this problem before with trackers. I would try a different tracker that is extremely reliable as a test, to see if maybe your site is to blame. Also, about the upnp, not all routers seem to have that.
myooym, I have the same problems all the time. However, I can maintain much better than 50KB/s. What is your maximum download? Is it capped at all? What other programs do you have running that could be stealing the bandwidth?

Thanks for that ill give it a try. Since i last posted I have started getting a green face about half the time. So im thinking you might be right about that tracker being a tad un-reliable.

Razor is right, not all routers have upnp enable option, but it will be an option in your windows firewall, if your using windows and have it turned on, (thats actually what I was referring to). Also, some ISP's have 6881-6889 blocked (which I'm sure you know) so you might want to try 49152-65535, but for whatever port you use, you only need to select "one port" in your router if your using azureus.
In regard to "port triggering" its an option in your router set up(Lynksys wrt54g). Once you select "Gaming" in the top right of the page, you will see several selections across the top of your screen. Port triggering is directly to the right of port fowarding. Most people can get to this setup page by typing 192.168.1.1, in the address bar, but you probably know this already.
I would also like to add that "sometimes" I have a blue smiley, rather than green, which I attribute to the tracker as Razer mentioned, but it has never affected my up/down speed and the nat test "always" says ok, even if the smiley is blue. If you've done everything mentioned by myself and others, I would suggest resetting your router. It should have reset button on it somewhere, just google it for instructions on how to do it.

You should have upnp enabled. As far as the port triggering goes, I'm not sure if it will help or not, I can only tell you that I have it set up for that on my router. If you've tried everything else though, I would try that as well.

Thanks guys, Im not sure specifically what ended up doing it but i am getting green most of the time now. Im pretty sure it was a tracker thing. I also found i get decent speeds when im in the blue but it doesnt update the tracker that im using and i like them alot. So when im seeding and its not updating its just a bitch cos i dont get any credit for it and have to organise my ratio again so I can dl again.
Anyway that is all beside the point, thanks for your help (damn this site rocks).

One thing that i tried that i dont think was mentioned was I changed my ip to static, I did this all at the same time I did all the other things here so im still not sure exactly what it was that fixed the problem.
I was told to do this from the official az wiki.
Either way its worth a shot i think, check out www.portforward.com they have great guides for this sort of stuff too.
Hope you have some luck.

Blue faces all the time...Are u uploading and Downloading a lot of stuff at one time. Blue faces mean that your not contacting the actually tracker, but you maybre still be downloading if your got peer connections...which means two things. Either the tracker itself is slow or down, very rarely occurs but popular trackers can get swarmed, or your downloading and uploading so much that your request to talk to the tracker times out. When u surf the web while dling, does it run slow? Even if your only downloading or uploading at like 10 each, P2P clients like Azureus take up quite a bit of bandwidth and its not uncommon to have timeouts. Try stopping some torrents and only limiting yourself to 1 or 2 downloading at a time.
I read an article somewhere about that. The more you download (# wise) the less bandwidth each one gets, and that means that any and all of azureus's behind the scenes actions get even les.

This happens even when im only downloading 1 file. I leave it on for several hours but still no green face comes up.
Also Azureus takes up alot of my bandwidth even if its not using it so my web pages take longer to load up.
It does still download but it only goes at a slow rate compared to what i was getting.
