i backed it up, it works perfect.
i used DVD Decrypter and Alcohol 120% to burn at 4x
and ive got slim ps2 with swap magic 3.3 pal

ok once you have decrypted ur game u will have an iso.
open Alcohol 120% and click image finder on the left, that will open a new screen, pick the drive your iso is on then click search.
once it has finished searchin you shud see the iso of your game, you then right click it and add selected files.
you then get rid of the search screen and your game will be on the screen you started with, you then click the game so it is highlighted then click image burning wizard.
the rest explains itself.

i used DVD Decrypter to iso read and iso write. the only thing i have is it takes a little longer to load unless this is normal. the loading im talking about is after a race but its better than my kid destroying my original. i also use swap magic but i use 3.6 NTSC.
