Emerson EWR20V4 DVD "Region" question

I just bought this VCR/DVD combo and I know that the DVD player only plays region 1 DVD's. I have family members that lives in Europe and Asia. My question is: what region are the DVD's that I record recorded in? Will the DVD's that I record only work in region 1 DVD players? Or will my family members in Europe & Asia be able to have my recorded DVD's work in their DVD players? Thanks in advance!
