DVD Shrink might not be able to break the encryption, I suggest you download DVD Decrypter from this site (it's free) and click on the link in my sig. Follow the instructions for both programs.

Good Luck!

Konfused, seriously think about what you typed. If she is already at the burning stage, the encryption has been broken. Your post was unneeded and had no significant meaning other then to boost your post count.

That error message indicates, the media he/she is using is the problem.

fema, try a different brand of media, such as Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden.

right, now the sillyness has been removed from the thread, let's attack some logfiles.. ps have requested this thread be moved to the correct forum (Nero forum).

Quote:
Insert empty disc to write to.
(Medium in drive: unknown. Medium required by compilation: DVD+R/RW, DVD-R/RW, DVD+R DL.)
- always make sure blank discs are in the drive BEFORE you click burn. this enables Nero to detect the speed capabilities of the disc

- won't comment on Maxell as i don't use them, well i haven't used any yet anyway
Quote:

- i'm pretty sure this error is purely a symptom of other problems and not a cause in itself
Quote:
Invalid write state

Burn process failed at 4x (5,540 KB/s)
- splat!. hmmm, hardly anything wrong in the logfile..
Quote:

- your atapi drivers aren't loaded correctly even though DMA shows to be ON for all drives. try resetting DMA via this - http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/FAQ.htm

Basically there's not an awful lot to go on there, maybe try a 'simulation burn' after resetting DMA, and paste that section of logfile here, good or bad progress. if it fails again, it may be worth trying different media

@sammy99 -
Quote:
Nero API version: 6.0.0.11
- wow, that version is out of the bible, update to 6.6.0.16 (latest, and most likely last version as version 7 is out imminently)

Quote:
Physical memory : 511MB (523760kB)
Free physical memory: 250MB (256788kB)

- sufficient total memory, not too bad on the free memory, but always close down more programs prior to future burns
Quote:
Last possible write address on media: 2298495 (510:46.45)
Last address to be written: 2286125 (508:01.50)
- that sounds like you're burning to the outer edge of discs. if you use DVD Shrink, set target size to 4300MB in Shrink's preferences, thus avoiding outer edge of discs and not sacrificing much space
Quote:
Recorder: MATSHITA DVD-RAM UJ-815A, Media type: DVD-R
- a-ha, the firmware is too old to correctly identify your media, (and as your firmware does actually seem up to date it would seem the media is too new for the firmware to know what to do with) the best it can tell here is that you have a -R disc loaded. This should be a 3liner paragraph similar to original poster's example above -

- your atapi drivers aren't loaded correctly even though DMA shows to be ON for all drives. try resetting DMA via this - http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/FAQ.htm

i don't know the spec of this drive, but i suspect it's 'old'; if so, you're gonna have to stick to discs that will definitely work with this drive, ie if the drive is 'old' you'll need lower speed-rated discs (ie older discs that are gonna start becoming more scarce as now 16x speed discs are now becoming the norm)

Basically there's not an awful lot to go on there, maybe try a 'simulation burn' after resetting DMA, and paste that section of logfile here, good or bad progress. if it fails again, it may be worth trying different media

All is well creaky, the new Plextor Burner seems to recognizing all my media. There are few things i am curious about. I still have a slave TDK 840G DVD Rom that I like to utilize. Is this still possible? I get errors on the second drive (the TDK).
thanks.

You need to cease with the constant multiposting. In addition to being very confusing for those trying to help you it's also against forum rules and can get you banned if you continue.

Consider this your first friendly warning ;)
