im trying to increase my download speeds with azuraus and bit comet. My max speeds are about 200kps. sometimes I cant break 20 kps. Ive opened the right ports in my firewalls and forwarded the ports in my router. I confirmed the ports with Shields Up. they are working properly. I checked my download speed with Speakeasy speedtest. My download speed is 3400 kps. Broadbandreports recommended that I allow pings. I changed my firewalls to allow pings, but I cant figure out how to change my netgear MR814v2 router to allow pings. Is this something I should do? If so, how do I do it? Is there anything else I can do to increase mydownload speeds?
My computer is as follows:
toshiba sattelite notebook: 80g 5400rpm, 512 bm RAM, intell celeron m
winXP firewall and mcaffe firewall (both are turned on)
atheros AR5005G wireless connection
Any advice would be greatly appreciated Thanks!

Which is probably the jist of your entire post. I've found that using ports that are not generally known as default ports works the best. So to say the "right" ports, I wouldn't agree with. You just want ports opened and forwarded that aren't blocked by your ISP. Making up your own range is a good idea. So skies the limit. 0 to 65535, make your own range. Also, use torrents that are healty. By that I mean ones that have heavy seeders and less seeders whenever possible. Everything could be setup perfect but if the source(s) for the torrent(s) is/are bad, your download speed will suffer.
