Hi all.

I have an acer laptop with a pioneer dvr-k14ra fitted. Its supposedly a dual-layer, dual format 8x drive, however, whenever I try burning a dvd I seem to have probs. (I even had a coaster today, which is the first in a year or so, although I normally burn on my desktop)

I use nero to burn (nero express) and then add the vob files from the video.ts folder. Nero says it will burn to the disc (I always use ritek G05's) at 8x, estimating 8mins to burn, however it doesn't burn at 8x, more likely 1x or 2x and takes around 30 mins or more, and as I said, even spat a disc out today and failed me.

I have been burning dvd's for some time now and have a flashed 107 and my shiny new 110 in my desktop, and have always used the same media, which has never to the best of my knowledge failed me, so Im rather stuck as to why I have this problem.

One of the plus points for this laptop for me was that it had a pioneer writer, so Im a bit miffed that it seems to be going tits up!

I have tried the pioneer site ( and the rpc site ) for a firmware upgrade but cant find one.

If anyone has any ideas I would be most grateful.
