Just how much memory is enough???? I want to go 4G's, but was told 2G's would serve me well. I'm not a gamer. I basically just burn, surf, and write. Little photo editing........ you know basic. I want something that won't slow me down.

how much can your motherboard hold & might not see no speed improvement with the extra 2 gigs.

Actually, it's a choice between two computers. One will handle up to 2 g's the other 4.

unless doing multiple things at once, you'll probably not see any performance difference between 1, 2 & 4gig of ram.

I want to be able to burn a disc and maybe work on my book at the same time with music playing in the background. I'm so afraid to do anything while I'm burning since it took me so long to work out the kinks and stop making coasters. Almost forgot, the computer comes with either 3.0 or 3.2 P4 with HT.

Morgana3 -- start with 1 GB; are you using DDR or DDR2 Memory?? I have 1GB and author dvd's using Pinnacle 9 Studio Plus, play mp3's, use mail, internet connections and download files, and run my webcam with no memory degradation. .... No need for overkill.

Also, we run major java web applications using Weblogic Server at work using 4GB of memory on Dell Servers and even that is overkill where each jvm / virtual machine is assigned 1 GB running 4 instances.

Let us know what kind of memory you are using and your motherboard make and model. tks.

ASUS P4C800-E Deluxe I875P
3.4 GHz Pentium 4 Northwood
1 GB Kingston
Plextor 716A Dvd-Rw
74 GB WD Raptor SATA HD@10000rpm
200 GB Maxtor HD@7200rpm
GeForce 6800 GT
