OK, in short: How do I do this?

On the controller pod for the z5500's the only input it has are:

1) Optical Input
2) S/PDIF Coax Input
3) 3 analog 1/8 inputs for Front - Rear - and Center/Sub

I never have and still do not understand how to connect my Audigy 2 ZS which advertises itself as true 5.1 capable digitally to my speakers. I have the front panel connected and I see on the front panel I actually have an S/PDIF Out and Optical Out. Are those what I use to send a digital signal to the Pod? I tried plugging an S/PDIF cable into the S/PDIF out on the front panel and into the pod, but it still said "No digital signal" or whatever. I checked my volume settings and it lists the SPDIF in, but not the out. How do I set my computer to send all sound out through the SPDIF out? Or am I on the completely wrong track?

Please help me, somebody. PC Audio is gonna make me die at a young age
