Laser lense cleaning on a DVD+RW

Greetings,

I was just wondering about care for my DVD+RW Lense. Where i live is a very dusty environment, and even though i have filters in my pc case, the inside of my tower does get dusty. Is there a lense cleaner for the laser of a +rw burner? CD-R burners have those cleaning discs to clean their lenses, is there a similar product for dvd burners? Just curious about it... It may help in the quality of my burns!

I use the same lens cleaner. The one that's a disc with the little brushes on it. Works fine for me. You know, your burner reads as well as writes. The principal here is the same, all that cleaner does is brush off dust from your laser lens. Try it. I am sure it will help you.

Yes, the cd cleaning disc with the little brush on it will work in DVD-RW drives,but it should be a last resort for all cd and dvd drives! IMHO

Eject the tray,and spray a little compressed air in the drive to help rid the dust if you are having problems.That's the safer way to clean it. Lens cleaning discs can nock the laser off a little.

I've got over 1500+ burns on my benq 1620, excellent playback along with very few errors on my backups and haven't had to run a cleaning disc.

I agree with the canned compressed air saugman. As long as one is careful to shoot short bursts and hold the can upright. Upside down or on the side and one may shoot the propellant into the drive. I,like you rarely clean my drives. My house isn't very dusty. I DO clean the interior of my PCs at least every 2-3 months. Ther never is much dust, but I like it clean! I HAVE used the cleaning disc once or twice with no issues from it though. I will use that cleaning disc in my standalone player occasionally. It helps the playback greatly. IF it's dirty.
