To start of i got a loan of Hide & Seek a genuine copy i am trying to make a backup copy for myself this is what i done

I tryed to use dvd shrink and it just wont work the timer come`s up with crazy numbers such as 3456.03 Hrs so i figured dvd shrink cannot break the c.p so then i tryed ripping it to my hdd and then useing dvd shrink i had a simmilar prob before with another dvd and that worked(the ripping method and then dvd shrink)but shrink still wont do it and the files are over 9gb when ripped so no way will they fit on a disk

Does any one know of a way i could backup the dvd sucsesfully??

Try clonedvd2 and AnyDVD,thay have a free 21 trial
click here to get them..THE MOVIE WILL FIT ON A DVD5 (4.36GB)

Yep, follow Ireland's advice. DVD Shrink is no longer updated (the developer went to Nero) and it gags on the newest encryptions. You need AnyDVD to decrypt and then something new to burn with like CloneDVD, because a new decrypter with an old burn software still won't burn your DVD. I have DVD Shrink and the latest AnyDVD/CloneDVD 2 Combo. DVD Shrink still could not handle LOTR even with AnyDVD decrypting, but the latest version of CloneDVD 2 could. This tells me that the decrypters have hooks into the burners and both need to be current to decrypt and burn - no point in decrypting without burning...LOL!!

dvd decrypter works also (freeware)

but your best bet IS CloneDVD 2 with AnyDVD (which i use) ,heres a guide to use the programs

remember to use good blank media as in Taiyo Yuden ,Verbatim or Ritek(ridata) and burn at 4X
