@TMcC, I know this seems like everyone's out but I believe that many issues are media related...either cheap media or burning to fast. Just because a disk says it can burn at 8x or 16x doesn't mean that that is the best way to do it...actually many at AD burn at 4x or slower. I have never heard of the two media types that you mentioned...there are several at AD that have more expertise in the media area and could provide good advice. I would also check to make sure that InCD (from Nero isn't installed or interactual player isn't installed either)THey both cause far too many problems when it comes to burning.
MovieDud
p.s. I did Hide and Seek with CloneDVD 2 and Intercopy 3, AnyDVD running in the background and had no problems. Using TY and Verb media burning at 4x.

Hide & Seek came out on 7/5/05 and was no problem burning with DVDDecrypter and Shrink with AnyDVD activated. At least for me. You can also use DVD43 + CloneDVD2 and that should back it up, too.
Sumvision? what's the manufacturers ID on that disk? I don't remember ever hearing that name! you can get the manufactures ID by using DVDInfoPro: http://www.dvdinfopro.com/ download here for the free version. Here: http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm to check up on your disk manufacrturers ID and see where you disk is! Using better media is a start and can solve many problems. It's just a starting point. Better media, better results. Once you have better media you can go on with your trouble shooting if this doesn't solve your problem....but I bet it does! The better media is: Taiyo Yuden (you can buy online at supermediastore.com, meritline.com), Verbatim (in stores or online), TDK, Sony, Maxell, Fuji, and most disks that are made in Japan or Taiwan.

@ TMcC hi :)
as has been said .a little more info would be help full.especially on the media front.
you can download a first class dvd identifier right here on AD. click on the link below
http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_tools/dvd_id... post the results on both makes of media
the complete proccess of method used to do your backup from beginning to end
a Nero log would be even better the info in that tells all
@ireland hi :)
your quote is right he/she is getting his/her error 1% into the write (burn) not the read (rip)
so it would appear that the problem lies not in the reading of an original, but in the first stages of the burn .which tends to indicate bad media

@ TMcC hi :)
the first one RITEKG05 = 1x-8x DVD-R
as you can see by my sig ,i use mainly Ritek which is in the top 3 media so shouldn't be a problem there
the TDK i'm not sure off, but i believe they also are in the top 3
so we need the other info
how fast are you burning ?
i and others usually keep our burn speed to 4x or lower if neccessary
