I was trying to backup "the wedding date". It got stuck on the guy in the green shorts jumping. I tried to replace the unreferenced material with a still image to get past that, but when i selected the still image and tried to backup it still kept on getting stuck on the guy in the green shorts jumping. Why is it doing that? Am I doing something wrong?
I burned the WEDDING DATE wayyyyy back when it was released....8/16/05 in USA. If I remember right.... you are stuck on the encryption that Shrink can't handle.

That image of the "jumping boy" -- where a kid jumps in the air, played over and over -- is a sign of a form of copy protection which appeared in the past 10 months. There is a video in VIDEO_TS.VOB where a kid jumps in the air, played over and over. DVD Shrink can't handle this video. It's a hidden video clip which is usually put in the subpictures.
It is deliberate, and was inserted to try to defeat such rippers as DVDShrink. It consists of corrupt video data in the unreferenced material on the disc.
Scroll down until you find the heading which says "Type 2."
There are many solutions, many of which are discussed and described there. But, with this form of protection, you should always also preview your final version, just prior to the burn, in case you need to "blank out" some 3 to 8 minutes of a completely black screen (which is the case on some of the discs that have used this form of protection). Not all of them exhibit this additional problem, but some of them do. And, whether you see this "black screen" at the very start of the main movie may depend on whether you are backing up the whole disc, or just certain parts of it.
(And, regarding one of the replies above, 7 minutes is NOT too long, since DVDShrink will not realize that it has encountered any error at all. In short, DVDShrink will NOT work correctly as the initial ripper on these discs. It may seem to work, but you can expect problems later. You should try the latest version of DVDDecrypter, and then proceed with caution, as indicated in the solutions described in the link above.)
