Hello,
I was wondering what free p2p networks are still out there? I used Winmx and still use Shareaza. T teach music and find p2p a great source of class listening materials.
I have not used a p2p network in a short time and was sad to see Winmx closed down. I still use Shareaza but find it limiting. Any suggestions. No adware or spyware please.

Well, you can see if you can use Limewire, it still hasn't been cracked down. Bit Torrent clients like Bit Lord are a good way to get someones album. I also tried a DC++ client that works really good to get a lot of stuff from people online. Even though DC++ is Direct Connect, it's a lot more reliable than most P2P softwares. If you can, you can still get a few files off of KazaaLiteK++. I wouldn't try many others out there, because most of them tend to have annoying popups and embedded spyware, but these tend to be free of spyware. If it's simple files you want I would go with KLK++ or Limewire, if you want better results I would go with a BitTorrent site, and if you have enough patience, you should really work to setting up a hub connection on a Direct Connection (though many hubs require a 1GB+ upload share!). It's really up to you. Late.

If Im online, Im usually on Steam:

www.bittorrent.com

Go there, and download the Torrent Client. Then start surfing torrent sites. Good ones to look at are:

I use limewire, and the irony is that you can get the free limewire, then turn around and use the free version to download the premium pay version!

shhh! gallagher! the limewire creators have allowed that so that everyone can still share. they charge for pro, but they don't push it. they're all still p2p'ers at heart, not the corporations cracking down on them. so shhh! don't let the fat cats with fatter wallets know!

@gear what do you mean by pull up more results... search results or download speed?

I've also heard bearshare is a great source for wide ranges of music variety. Since you teach music this might help. I think I might give it a try myself since I don't typically listen to what's on MTV.
I'll keep you posted

lime wire and bear share run off the same networ, so they are similiar. by more results means, in your options tab at the top, you can choose to share your files. the more you share, the more likely you are to get better results, ie; if your only sharing lets say 50 files, most people dont allow freeloaders (i dont) you have to be able to share over 500 files to bum from me. so the more you share, the more you can download. its pretty easy, let me know.

What extra software I need to protect myself from hackers and the RIAA? I currently have McaFee firewall/virus protection. What are proxies? I don't mind sharing, I just want to be as safe as possible.

Hey All,
First the bad news, Limewire is not closing but in the next few weeks it is going to ban all copyrighted songs, software, apps's ect..
The Good news, There is another P2P Program that is going to be based on the LimeWire program called Frost Wire http://frostwire.com
For extra protection use somthing like Peerguadian or Protowall(look at other threads to find out more)

Thanks and cheers

It has taken a long time to discover the many different ways to burn, scan, ripp, download, cut, paste and protect.
Never give up on new ways and new solutions
