is there anybody out there that can help me with this/this what i have .i have wintv 2000 usb hooked on my pc to tv .i have an vcr that i watch my home movies on when i tranfer to dvd-r they come out in mono sound i use windvd creator software and intervideo home theater for my convert to mpeg thats fine.i just want to know how can i stereo sound on my dvds .help what more software or harware like a new tv tuner ?
I'm using Win-TV 2000 on an internal card, but they should be the same as far as settings go. I'm assuming you record through Win-TV to your HD, then burn to a dvd. If you click preferences on Win-TV, then the "movies" tab, "audio record source" tab, on the "mixer line-record source" box make sure you select stereo mix. Then select "audio" tab, under "volume controls" set your "audio mixer inputs" to line in. To the right you should see options for your current tv audio preferences. Select stereo. That should do the trick.
You may also need to make sure the audio cable from your vcr to your computer is a stereo adapter, not mono.
I have the same problem. I bought an TV/Video capture card from ebay - it supports stereo audio. I have a VCR that has stereo audio (and setup accordingly), and a stero video cable to the video capture card, and a cable from the capture card to the sound card.
If I play a TV channel - sound is in stereo. If I connect my VCR (or my DVD for that matter), I get Mono sound only. I've checked settings on the VCR, Video capture card and the sound card, but no luck. Can anyone help ?
btw - th video capture card is a Chinese (I think) brand called Gadmei.
When you connect your vcr/dvd, do you also use audio cables to connect from the player to the capture card? If not, that may be the problem as it was for me. All you would need is a stereo adapter cable{for my card it was a 3.5mm to rca adapter, 3 bucks at Fry's Electronics}, and an rca audio cable. Connect the adapter to your input on the capture card{or the line in port on your sound card if your capture card doesn't have one}, connect the rca cable to your vcr/dvd output and you should have stereo. Very important that the adapter be "stereo" and not "mono" though. You can tell by looking at the adapters metal tip. If it has a single black line it is mono, while 2 black lines will be stereo. Below is a link to Radio Shack that will show the adapter. I got mine at Fry's Electronics for 3 bucks. Hope this helps you out some.
I use the Red and White Audio cables, and yellow Video cable from the VCR to the capture card. I've got a Stereo video cable that has the Red, White and Yellow connections at one end, and a Stereo input at the other (2 black lines). I've also tried using a separate calbe for the video, and the stereo video cable just for the audio - without much sucess.
I'll try using the adaptor suggestion you made, and let you know if that works.
thanks.to all you guys for the help out there.so here's what i did i no longer used my pc to copy tranfer VHS movies old tapes to put them on DVDs.as i was trying to get stereo sound on DVD-R that was coming out in mono.i just got hold of a used vcr/dvd recorder .and old vcr to play the tape to copy to the dvd recorder to make my dvds now.and WOW they are coming out like a brand new DVD.but theres one trick to that a have use a good Video Clarifier in between them.works just fine.thanks again to all for your help.
