Ok, I've been sitting at my computer for the last 4 days trying to figure out what my problem with Azureus is being caused by. I'm only getting yellow health status and it's making me go batty.

I think I've narrowed my problem down to Norton Interent Security 2005 and here's why......

I've done all the things that I've read here and in various other forums....the ports are forwarded from my router to where they need to be and so on and so forth. To the best of my knowledge I've given javaw.exe and azureus.exe access to the internet through NIS2005. Basically if there was a thread somewhere I read it and tried what it said.

So today I'm running in safe mode for whatever reason, and I decided to start up Azureus just to verify that the router was configured correctly without having NIS2005 interfere with anything.

Bingo, green smileys! Huzzah, remote connections! So I say to myself, "Self, it seems that Norton is buggering up all sorts of stuff."

Now, I know for a fact that the EXE's for Java and Azureus both have free-reign to do whatever they want through Norton, but I'm wondering if there is some other crazy 'general rule' that happens to be blocking something that azureus needs to communicate with others.

Anyone else have this problem?

I was poking around and went to the Shields Up! website and used the file sharing scan-thing and this is what it kicked back to me.....I understand what this means but I don't understand how it may or may not apply to the problem I'm having......

Attempting connection to your computer. . .
Shields UP! is now attempting to contact the Hidden Internet Server within your PC. It is likely that no one has told you that your own personal computer may now be functioning as an Internet Server with neither your knowledge nor your permission. And that it may be serving up all or many of your personal files for reading, writing, modification and even deletion by anyone, anywhere, on the Internet!

Your Internet port 139 does not appear to exist!
One or more ports on this system are operating in FULL STEALTH MODE! Standard Internet behavior requires port connection attempts to be answered with a success or refusal response. Therefore, only an attempt to connect to a nonexistent computer results in no response of either kind. But YOUR computer has DELIBERATELY CHOSEN NOT TO RESPOND (that's very cool!) which represents advanced computer and port stealthing capabilities. A machine configured in this fashion is well hardened to Internet NetBIOS attack and intrusion.

Unable to connect with NetBIOS to your computer.
All attempts to get any information from your computer have FAILED. (This is very uncommon for a Windows networking-based PC.) Relative to vulnerabilities from Windows networking, this computer appears to be VERY SECURE since it is NOT exposing ANY of its internal NetBIOS networking protocol over the Internet.

So am I to understand that Norton is in 'Nazi-mode' and won't let anything get through or what?

OK, so now I've got my PC starting normally again. I disable NIS2005 and start Azureus. I test the port that I'm using in Azureus. OK! Viola! Green Smileys. Great download speeds!

Knowing that Java and Azureus were set up with the 'permit all' option what could possibly be the problem?
