Hey !

I have this friend who just reinstalled windows but her computer is no longer giving off sound . At first we thought it might be the speakers but after testing them here on my computer they work fine !
We have tryed everything we can think of and nothing . The sound options is showing there is no sound device but the speakers are plugged in perfectly fine . I went to device manager but i have no idea what the " sound card " name is so its useless for me to look there .

But my question to everyone is .. " Is there a way to find out what type of sound card ( name etc . ) she has so we can see if its listed on the DM or maybe so we can download a driver ??

( BTW ) She knows nothing of what type of soundcard or anything ( no box etc notta thing ! )

I do hope somone could help . It would suck for her to pay a bill when its prob just a very simple fix .

Much thanks to all replys !

Have you tried going to start>programs>accessories>entertainment>volume control? Sometimes the volume gets turned down or off with my computer and that usually works for me. You can go to control panel>sounds and audio devices and see if the sound card is installed as well. If its not you should be able to install from the windows install cd. Hope this helps a little.

Th_Kyur -- if your girlfriend is Cute, I am certain we can help her out!!

What OS are you running? If Windows XP, go here:

start*all programs*accessories*system tools*system information

Open up the j-tree on the left and look for Components and Sound Device. Screen print that information on the right side of the window pane and post it. And do what DDP said to do too.

let us know.
