Bet ya he's got WinDVD Creator. Because I have the same error and it's driving me crazy. Have googled forever, went to computer manufacturer who provided it to me (escalated, waiting for call back). Could not find anything at intervideo.com who makes the software.

The video and sound are playing in the app fine, It just wants something set. Error: "Please select a capture profile while you capture clip from capture device" in a popup alert box. Click Okay and it doesn't record.

If anyone knows, PLEASE TELL ME!

If you are Trying to capture from a DV camcorder then you should maybe use a DV Capture program Like "WinDV" or "DVIO" or "Scenalyzer live" which will capture video from a DV Camcorder and save it as a DV AVI file then you can do whatever you want with the captured DV AVI file.....

For me, I'm trying to capture from VCR. This appears to be a software issue. Cannot find where to set the "capture profile". I've even been digging through config files. I'm at tier III with Fujitsu now and nothing from InterVideo yet.

Ho humm... what really sucks is I was in technical support (Tier3) for many years. Its a little strange being on the other side waiting for these guys to do their jobs.

Bet you would never guess what the response has been so far. Reinstall the OS. Damn! Its been so long since I had to call for support, I totally forgot about the moronic support you get from manufacturers; software or hardware. No one seems to be able to locate this error having come up before. Except the user!

Reinstalled the app. Changed input from RCA to coax. No difference.

carver6...
Use the advice of Minion, however, with using the VCR as the source, you will need to use either the ADVC-100 or 110 along with WinDV or DVIO (both free). This will upload to the HD as an AVI file. Then work with the AVI file. My advice is use WinDV which you actually see what is being uploaded. A suberb small no-nonsense program which I have never experienced a dropped frame. The other way is to use a card as discussed within this forum.... Texas Outlaw

Thank you both Minion and Outlaw. In case anyone with A Fujitsu N 6010 comes looking for the same answer (I found this forum via google), here is what I finally got back from Fujitsu.

//////////////////////////////////////////////
Due to the design of the Pixela TV Tuner Module, only Intervideo WinDVR is able to capture video through the TV Tuner connections. Windows Movie Maker and all 3rd party video editing and capture applications do not have the ability to capture through the TV Tuner Module S-Video or Composite connections. If you wish to capture video with an application other than WinDVR you must use an IEEE1394 or USB Connection.
MCD and Engineering recommend capturing video into Intervideo WinDVR, then exporting it into the application you wish to edit the video with.
This is a known limitation with the N6010 and N3510 LifeBooks. Due to the hardware architechture design of both units 3rd pary applications are not able to capture video through the TV Tuner Module.

Its really a shame that WinDVR has always choked on my laptop.
