When using RecordNow, which was included with the drive, burning begins but seems to stop (i.e. drive light stops flashing)at 98%. Time countdown reaches zero also. This happens everytime. I have also had problems with the drive recognizing Memorex DVD-RW's. Any suggestions? So far I have been very disappointed.

I don't have the UL model, I have the A model, but maybe I can help. 1) try another media, I buy the cheapies from all media outlet, and have only had problems due to my ignorance, not the media. 2) only use the power dvd software that comes with the bundle, there have been many posts in the past about conflicts with some of the bundled software. I personlly use Nero. 3) make sure you have the latest firmware update from the sony website. Hope this gives you some options to try.

I'm very new to this. Just bought a DRU-500AX.
I have found comments in here to be VERY helpful
so I signed up. With that said I have been unable to use Maxell -r ver 2.0 media but the -rw works fine. I just bought a 100 spindle of -r from E-bay and where the Memorex failed this stuff worked. I'm certain media has all to do with it at this point. (FYI using DVDXCopy) Good Luck
