i dunno whats goin on, but as of yesterday my dvd burner has been acting up. a couple days prior to the malfunctioning incident, my lite-on has been reading my recent backups.... then all of a sudden it wouldnt read them anymore. i've just wasted 12 dvd-rs, and everytime i burn some bakup data, windows never reads whats in the drive. I use Nero, and NTI DVD maker platinum..

sometimes when i insert a recent disc i jus burnt, the dvd drives led light stays on, disabling me to access "my computer" unless i eject the drive.. or the dvd rom will just spin, then stop indicating that it might have read the dvd, but when i click on the drive windows says "drive not accessible".

my burner can read really old data dvd backups, and regular cds/dvds, but not my recent backups.. i've updated the firmware. no luck. i've scanned for viruses, and kaspersky located them and did what was neccessary, i use registry mechanic and got rid of errors, i hope my drive iisnt failing on me..

anyone knows what the cause may be? my choice of brand has always been with memorex dvd-rs

would ya'll recommend me taking my internal dvd burner out and jus using it as a usb 2 burner? would that help for anything?

and is tehre software that can scan for hardware errors?

Hey listen, i'm nothing, and you're nothing, so lets just keep it like that, k?

I would suggest trying DVD media, other than your Memorex to see if you get a good burn.

Bad choice of media, as anyone here will tell you... I used to have a spindle of fake Riteks, that immediately after a burn wouldn't be recognized. If you buy Verbatim media, your problems should stop.
