I am trying to burn a compilation of clips in Vision Express 3 ( Nero 6 disc and downloaded Reloaded updates.)
All the clips play on WMPlayer; some are net d'loads, others vhs-pc via Pinnacle and others I don't know what; under 'Properties' they variously show as 'wma/v file', 'video clip' or 'movie clip'.
There is an empty DVD9 disc in my Pioneer 108. (I don't know if it's relevant here but there is most definately not a CPU; RAM or HD-space shortage on my pc, and I once Decrypted/Shrunk and burned to a DL so I know that the hardware works).
1. Whilst adding movies to the project and passing the 5gb mark the bar changes colour.
2. Message: there is a mix of PAL and NTSC and offers an option to change all to one or the other.
3. Message: 'project is too big for a normal disc', so I choose 'no' to record DL.
4. Message in red about needing DL disc.
5. Message 'Recording this project maybe unsuccessful , etc....'
I once said to myself 'what the heck, ignore the warnings and try it' let it run, got a 'Runtime Error' message and a spoilt disc.
Thanks in advance.

Hmm, my previous post sounded a little snippy and wasn't meant that way: it's just that so many people seem to be getting a lot of help and me none.
I have to add; after looking for threads of similar problems I tried to save the project to my HD with a view to burning it to DL disc with another tool. As the project showed 5+ hours I went to bed. In the morning it had stopped with the progress bar exactly halfway through.

let's have a look at your logfile - search your system for nerovision.txt and paste here. I don't use Nerovision however like digging thru it's logfiles

.....but not yet: there are some things I need to understand first.
1/ My compilation is a mix of AVI and mpeg and possibly other things: however, on right-clicking they show up as video clip, movie clip or wmav file: how can I tell whether they are AVI or mpeg, and is this important?
2/ One of the warnings I get after transcoding is that there is a mix of PAL and NTSC: I understand that this is important but how can I tell which clip is which format? (Nero would handle things better if a compilation was all the same kind, right?)
3/ Looking at other posts here, it seems that I cannot burn 8Gb onto a DL disc: as I understand it I have to say "Yes" I want the size reduced to fit a standard disc. Interestingly, both the burn process and the 'Save to HD' alternative hang at the colour-change in the size-bar. Duh? So what do I have a DL capable burner and DL discs for?
4/ Presuming I can get as far as saving the project with buttons an' menus an' all to my HD, would I have less problem burning to disc if I used another tool? Everybody recommends ImgBurn.

Having the same extact problem here. I too have a Pioneer DVR-108 and using Nero 6.6 Ultra Edition. All updates from Nero have been installed and still no luck burning to a Double Layer. Nero support is spotty and I have not gotten a response from them. Have you had any luck with a solution ?

Nope - but it was nice to see my post again!
From looking at this forum I see that Nero doesn't seem to like the layer changeover thing, but if you read my last post you'll see that maybe my problem is caused by something happening, or not happening, earlier on in the process, or something I'm doing wrong.
Hopefully we'll get some help.

@joecano - edit out your email address from your sig before a mod (or spammer sees it)

cool.. but because some of afterdawn's nifty features are still turned off while they're troubleshooting performance issues, stuff like signatures aren't being kept in sync, ie when you change the sig in reply it doesn't update any other replies.. just checked for ya and you're only in this thread anyway so you haven't got any more to change (sorry i'm just a nosy busybody) :).
anyway, will look at the nero bits of the thread in the morning..
