hi people..i downloaded the movie the interpreter and it came in an .avi file so i used nero vision express to burn it and i am using DVD-R discs and i put it in my playstation and i watched about the first 30 mins of it and it started skipping and then said unable to read disc..Now my friend told me to use DVDSANTA so i tried that i encoded my .avi files to make them into video_ts files which converted them into .BUP and .IFO i then copied the video files over to the disc and watched the movie again and the same problem happened with it skipping then unable to read. can anyone tell me how to burn them properly that would be great

without excluding the fact the PS2's can apparently be picky with burnt discs, the most common causes of this are too high a burn speed, crap media, burning too close to outer edge of discs, multitasking during the burn etc, or cominations of those things. CRC checking (checking for corruption) is worth doing - download dvdinfopro (free monthly trial from www.dvdinfopro.com - pick the version with adverts). if this finds any corruption that could explain the skipping. Also use dvdinfopro to identify the media you're using, paste the results here.

But it could also be that the PS2 is just being fussy. have you tried watching the bits that skip on the PC ?

ps it would be nice to see the Nerovision log - search your system for nerovision.txt and paste here, there may be clues in there or at the vry least there might be things we need to tweak such as firmware for the burner, etc..

cool, we're making progress then. the G05's are very good (i've only used 50 of them but have a few buddies round here who swear by them so that's good enough for me). as to the CRC check, great, no corruption then.

...So... i'm gonna hazard a guess that the PS2 is being picky. (it may need a clean but i'd wager it's just picky. i think ppl who burn games for PS2 go as extreme as 1x burning or whatever..

looks like i didn't mention it before, but some standalones can also be picky. the clues here are you say it has no CRC errors and it plays on the PC..
