Hi
I am new to burning dvds and i really need help.
I have used shrink, nero 6 to burn dvds and also have dvd43 installed. After burning them, i try to see them in any of the dvd players at home and at some point eveytime in a diferent spot, the image starts getting digitally distortioned, pixels all over the screen and skipping. I thought it was the dvd player and i tried three diferent brands. So far i have only dynex blank dvds to use, and ussualy dthe dvds i burn are over 8.0 gb. Also used clonedvd2 and same results. They work on my computer.

ps: You might want a log, for what have read, how and where do i copy it from?

thank you very much!!!!!

actually you probably need to change your media and also burn at a slower speed.I wouldnt burn more than 4X as the higher the speed the more durable the disc has to be.Otherwise errors start to creep in to your projects and that is what you are experiencing now.

That is the main problem. Dynex media is inferior when comparing to Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim and Maxell. They're on the very bottom when it comes to media quality. I recommend you get some high quality media first, then try to backup again at no higher than 4X speed.

NOTE: keep in to mind to update your Nero to the very latest 6.6.0.16 (since you have Nero 6) and do the same thing to your dvd burner's firmware as well.

WARNING: Do not "update/upgrade" your SAMSUNG BD-D5XXX series (Bluray Player), or else you cant enjoy any of your movie files.

....and to add to he other guys's replies...let's have LAST section of your Nero log which lives in c:\program files\ahead\nero\nerohistory.log but DO NOT post your serial number which usually begins with '1A21' or similar. You can differentiate sections via this section divider "====== *** Nero-Burning Rom, History File *** ======"

Ok
How or where do I get exactly the log for you guys, I do not have a clue.

Also I forgot to mention that the movies I am backing up are from netflix, does this makes more dificult? I know they come over protected but i also have had success with 20% of movies i've burned not presenting any defect and a perfect image.
Also the speed I use is 4x or less, never more and also I click in the option of extra analyzing, and another option( cant remember the name) that makes it slower but better quality because it writes twice instead of 1 run.
Thank you guys.

One more thing, whats the firmwall?

i've detailed where your logfile is and how to post it....

re firmwall - i take it you mean firmware, that's what teaches your burner about media/newer media/burn speeds so must be kept up to date.

Lastly, you need to edit your reply as i can't help you re netflix - you need to reword that paragraph. i think what you meant to say was that you're having trouble backing up some discs you just purchased...

Here c:\program files\ahead\nero\nerohistory and yes... creaky had already told you on his first reply. It's helpful for other experienced members to look at your log, so they (we) can see what happened in there. Hopefully your Dynex will code as Ritek and not that inferior CMC MAG stuff.

Yes, that is true indeed. However, updating the burner's firmware will improve burning performances and it will be more compatible with other new media and codes.

Wow... looks like you have a lot of logs in here, but I'll just take the very last one, since that should be your latest one anyways alright.
Quote:
Nero Version: 6.6.0.12
Internal Version: 6, 6, 0, 12d
Nero is out of dated, need to update to the latest (last of Nero Ultra 6) 6.6.0.16 - go here
http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/enu/General_CleanTool.html and get Nero General Clean Tool to wipe out Nero from your computer. Once it's done, download the latest 6.6.0.16 (Nero 6 Ultra package #1 & #2 only) to install on your system. Now restart and try to backup again.
Quote:
Recorder: <SONY DVD RW DRU-810A> Version: 1.0a
I'm not sure if "1.0a" is your current firmware, but go here http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_all.php and have a look around. Or go to Sony's support site at http://sony.storagesupport.com/ and look for a firmware update if there is one available for your Sony 810A burner, or you can just google on the net for an update on the firmware.

Memory is too low, need to free up more memory space. Try to add another 256MB or 512MB to your computer. Or try to free up more memory by going to Start, Run, and type "msconfig," then disable any running programs that you don't really needed - or "ctrl+alt+del" and disable and process running programs that's unneccessary.

What are you doing? are you trying to write on a DL media?

There's no disc in there.

Go here http://www.downloadjunction.com/product/store/15199 and get it to zap or completely wipe out Roxio from your system. Roxio won't do any good, especially with your Nero program. It will only causes you to have "coasters" down the road.

Go here http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/enu/InCD_CleanTool.html and get it to completely clean InCD from your system. InCD will only conflicts with your Nero, thus you're generating "coasters."
