@Alien13

If you don't have the option in bios to boot from USB then why not try this:

Remove the 80 gig from the external HD and swap it with one of your 10's, use Ghost to make an exact copy of your boot 10 gig to the 80 gig, then make sure your 80 gig is now the master on your IDE.

In other words, as if you just purchased an 80 gig HD and wanted to upgrade from your previous 10 gig, then instead of just chucking the 10 gig, put it in an external case. <G>

Since you mentioned Maxtor, I am assuming that you will have a 3.5" HDD, but you know what they say about assuming... :)

But I believe that Ghost 9.0 has both versions, the old and the newer version.

Ahh ok, thanks :) Im thinking that when the new hdd is up and running i will wipe the other 2 and use them for storage (xtra) and have no OS on them, would i just FDISK them ??

You could just reformat them, FDISK, etc. Your choice. But I would make sure that everything is OK and running well once you make the change to the 80 gig. Just make sure that you don't have the original 10 gig with the prior OS still "active" and on the same ribbon cable when you boot up just after the change.

By active what do you mean?? Both 2 hdd have an OS.

[edit] Ok we have chosen to go with putting in the actual case, so we take out the hdd we dont want in there adn then plug the 80gb in.. put it as the master one?? After its connected how do we install Windows XP then?? We have the disk to install it??

The easiest way is to do a complete copy of your original bootable HDD, the 10 gig with the OS and place it on to your newer 80 gig HDD. This way you have ALL drivers needed for items such as your Graphics, Sound, Modem, etc. etc. etc. If you are going to do a FRESH install it will take quite sometime and you will have to locate ALL those drivers once again. I would first use a program such as Ghost 9.0 or below.

Maybe ddp can recommend another program or method that might be easier to acquire or use.

Ok, today is the day we put it in :) So We take out the master hard drive as that one doesnt have much on it and put in the 80gb. Then we start the computer, then we clone the disk on to the 80gb ?? Then wipe the other one, and use it for storage??

wrong order, put new drive as slave so can boot off old drive if using ghost thru windows. after cloning the hd than try new hd as master by itself with old hd disconnected to see if alright before formating old hd.

Yeah we did that but before that we formated C:\ ( the one we dont want at all) then we took that out then put the 80gb in as the master but it didnt work so we put the other 10gb as master but it didnt start, after a while we ended up formatting the 80gb and put on win98se. We would have put on xp but we dont have the disc right now. Is there a way to get the hard drive (10gb) to load up as before we could choose which xp hdd we wanted to use, now win98 starts up without giving us a choice??
