I have recently made the "transition" to windows x64 and am seriously considering running back to xp 32. I have been having a lot of retarted problems, including ripping dvds to the hard drive. For the first few days, the system was running like a dual 2.4ghz workstation with 2gb of ram should when dedcrypting dvd's- namely, fast as hell. But now dvd decrypter won't read past 4.6x, even when I let it use my scsi hard drives. Formerly, I was reaching read speeds above 12x. I am using the new version, but I didn't upgrade, I just got this system so I had to download it for the first time. Anyway, are there some settings that I need to look at? I have never had any problems with this software for the year or so that I have used it but now it is slow as crap.

Thanks
Chris

First off, DVD Decrypter wasn't designed for a 64 bit processor. So it won't utilize the full potential of it.

Second, check your DMA settings - How ? do this -> Go to Control Panel> System> Hardware Tab> Device Manager> IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers> Right Click Primary IDE channel (and Secondary IDE channel after you finish with Primary)> Properties> Advanced Settings Tab> Transfer Mode or go here: http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=101616

Do the above from both "Primary & Secondary IDE channels".

I (We) and you need to look at whats in both "Transfer Mode" and "Current Transfer Mode". Screen shot below is what I'm talking about.

If it is in "PIO" mode. Click the "Driver" tab, and uninstall the driver. Then reboot. Upon rebooting windows will automatically reinstall the driver and it should go back to "DMA" mode.

(Your screen may or may not look the same as my screen shots)

Well this is odd. Under my ATAPI properties, nothing is displayed at all. A blank page and a tab that reads "general." This is probably my problem. I'll have to get drivers and the like.
Thanks

Okay I got it now. It's late and I forgot to click the plus out beside properties. DUUUH. Oh well, I got it working. Does it strike you odd that it will not go past ultra 66? It is a relatively new drive that should be faster than that. I will tool with the bios to see what I can get. Anyhow, thanks for the help!
