Does anyone have this burner? If so, how is it? Apparently this is top of the line stuff.
My Lite-On burner has been giving me major problems lately. It can only read some CDs and it can't read any DVDs at all, so I decided to ditch it and get something better. I was trying to decide between a Plextor or a Benq drive. I went with the Plextor. I ordered it from newegg.

My DVD Arsenal: BenQ DW1650 Drive, Plextor DVDRW PX-740A Drive, Nero 6.6.0.13, AnyDVD 6.1.8.4, CloneDVD2 2.9.1.2, DVD Shrink 3.2, DVD Decrypter 3.5.4.0, DVDFab HD Decrypter 3.2.1.0, VobBlanker 2.1.3.0, RipIt4Me 1.7.1.0, FixVTS 1.6.0.3

You paid too much for it 'cuz it says 'Plextor' on the front.

Sorry to burst your bubble but the 740 Plextor is made by BenQ and is a 1640 .. the ONLY differences are the front panel and the price!

:)

sorry to say, catfreak is 100% correct and you definitely PAID TOO MUCH if you did in fact order the "Plextor PX-740A" model~ :)

while the Plextor 716A is considered one of the best or THE best burner, depending on who you ask, this particular one is IDENTICAL to the Benq 1640...

didn't mean to add another "pin" to bursting your bubble, but, you got ripped off if you went ahead and bought the Plextor PX-740A :)

docTY~

I've never tried booktyping. I've always used the DVD-R format, not DVD+R. I make copies of movies sometimes for my brother-in-law and the DVD player in his living room doesn't play DVD-R's, but the DVD player upstairs does. If I booktype a DVD+R, do you think it will play in his DVD player downstairs? When I get my new burner, I'd like to try some booktyping. Is it easy to do? I was looking at this guide and it seems pretty easy:
