what format do they use?

For the best quality mp3s use EAC (exact audio copy) to rip your audio CDs and LAME to encode them. Follow this guide:

Directly from the page,

"The Yahoo! Music Unlimited service utilizes Windows Media DRM (digital right management), which requires you to use a subscription-compatible Windows Media device if you want to take subscription music to go. "

I remember napster-to-go and how you could use the computers sound card to capture the mp3's. any chance of the same deal going on here?

What software could i use?

so it sounds like they use protected wma files. i'm sure you could always just capture them via the analog output of your soundcard, I'm not sure if someone has developed software to crack the DRM of wma, I'll do some searching

hey dj, did some searching on google, and found a couple software that work great, i am using "tunebite" which is cool because it uses digital dubbing at 4x so it doesnt take a year to get my music encoded (it uses the sound card to capture) do you know of any software that might work any better?

no I couldn't find any, I searched briefly. Other than those crappy all-in-one programs that cost like $50 and claim to do everything.

ideally it would be nice to use a program that can decode and encode the audio without having to do it via the analog sound card, but as long as you have a decent sound card the results should be okay. and since its technically illegal to convert DRM music, it will be hard to find one. how does the captured audio sound? I'll try and find that app and check it out.

to be honost i can not tell a difference, but you, being a audio freak may notice haha. just be sure not to be doing anything while its working your music(at least not during digital dubbing) or youll get some skips.

where did you find tunabite?

Solaray: "Blueray is not for the game industry, what games need is a fast transfer rate not more space. I cant believe Xbox360 only has a 12X DVD reader thats shameful thats like 10MB/s on average (considering faster speeds on outer sectors).
You can buy a 12x DVD reader for the same price as a quater bottle of brandy.

Id rather get drunk then to wait for loading!"
