Good morning,

I'm a noob and having, I hope, a small problem. Thanks to the good people on the forum, I just installed a second hard drive on my PC as a slave (was from my old PC, which died). Everything is running okay except that when booting, I have to hit <esc> to get to the boot menu, and move the curser to the master HD. How do I go about setting it up so that it boots from the master automatically without going through this step?
Please, please, keep this as simple as possible as I'm an NOT well-versed in a lot of computer lingo.

TIA for any help,

Barry

looking at your other post you stated that you set the jumper as cable select on the old drive, try setting it as a slave. it may be that your old drive still contains an os, this is maybe why you have to manually select a main drive during boot. if it works i suggest you copy what files you want across onto your main drive and the reformat your old drive.

Sparky....I changed to SL and got an error message "Disk read error." I could still boot, though, from the boot menu. I'm changing back to CS.

Borhan....I never went into bios before. I just set a restore point so I'm good to go but I don't even know how to get into bios, or what to do when I do get there.

These Happy Dances are getting to be a habit!!! Since I have an HP, del didn't do me any good; however, F1 took me to the correct screen. I found Boot up at the top and changed the boot disc from the slave to the master. Man, I just love when things work!!!
Thanks to y'all for your help on this. I'm still working on a Norton problem (really just an annoyance) with a small pop-up at the lower right side of the screen about every two minutes. They sent me an e-mail and I'm trying to follow their instructions. I'll just keep working on it until this *^*(&*(*( pop-up disappears forever, never to be mourned.
