Ok i am running BitComet i have a Pentium 4, 3 GHZ HT processor, and 512MB of Ram...Comcast Cable is my ISP. On the site http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/ I have a download speed of 6792 KB/s and an Upload speed of 357 KB/s. So i did the whole (357/8)*.8. Then i put that number in for my MAX upload speed in Preferences on BitComet. I have opened my ports on my router its a Linksys BEFW11S4. I have turned off my fire wall on my computer. I know that they ports were correctly done right becuase i have done it with other programs before, and when i close the ports my download speed will go down to 10KB/s on BitComet and my Upload speed will also drop. The Problem is is that even with the open ports and all the other things done is that my MAX download speed is around 30-40 KB/s and it peaked off up to 60 for about ten seconds once.

Heres how my Netowrk is Setup..Its a Linksys wireless router i forgot to say...I put my computer directly on the router thinking i wouldnt have to share that single port with the other computers thus i get some more bandwidth....Any Ideas or suggestions?

Just confirming...Does you router have a built-in firewall? Are you positive that your Windows firewall has been disabled? It just sounds like to me that something is blocking your ports and I think it could only be one of the two. You said your ports were done correctly...do you mean opened in Windows? Did you forward the ports you are using to your router?

The best advice I could probably give you is create your own range of ports to forward to your router. Maybe of the range you are using, some or all of the ports are blocked by an outside service (i.e. ISP, etc.)

Oh yeah, on your picture you tried to display. Just make the letters lower case in the code.
IMG should be [img]
It should work fine after that, ; )

Ok.

I've got the same problem as him. My download speed rarely rises over 30 kb/s, for a single download, and is often even lower than that.

I disabled my sygate firewall, windows firewall(from the connection's advanced properties i allowed it)

My connection is around 2400 kb/s download and 350kb/s upload. Anyone have an idea why my speed is still so low? I also forwarded my ports.

@Fluper
Try different ports and healthier torrents (more seeds). Make sure that whatever new ports you decide to use are reflected in your torrent client. And the ports can be anything in the allowed range...not necessarily the default range or listening port.

I'd also recommend Bit Tornado if that's not what you're using. Also work equally as good...I just like having a range of ports available versus just a listening port.

Sorry for the confusion, but read the thread i just made about not being able to open my ports(that now seems to be the problem)

Also, i'm using Bitlord. I used to use BitTornado, but i generally get faster downloads from Bitlord.
