Greetz,

Been reading and researching for about a month now on all the latest PSP hacks, tricks, etc. I have a Jv1.0 and am still undecided if I should upgrade to v1.5. Here are some thoughts on what I have done, and any input or advice would be great. Cheerz!

I have tried all the UMD emulators out there, hookboot is the only one that has actually let me play a game (MG Acid and Dynasty Warriors), Fastloader and UMDemulater weren't designed for v1.0, so even the v1.0 patched versions of these aren't doing their thing properly. (Which is understandable, as almost everybody there in the States is using v1.5) The converted programs actually run fine, but after ISO is selected and loaded, I get kicked back to the system menu, but the UMD icon is not there, the PSP does eventually load it, but then it is the ACTUAL disc, and not the eumulated one, so the game cannot be played. (The new version of UMDemulator showed some promise with the Direct Load feature, but that, unfortunately, just freezes the screen and I have to do a hard reboot of the PSP.) I am thinking, again, this is because I am using v1.0 and these emulators are really for 1.5, which seems to load the actual UMD discs differently (and perhaps keeps them in memory so when you return to the System Menu they aren't reloaded from scratch?)

I have also tried every possible combination with the WAB FW tricker. I realize this is really only to be used as a cosmetic trick, and not as an actual FW hack, it DOES let me play real UMDs that are v2.0, which i have tested on the J v2.0 demo/updater disc and one other game (F1 Racer, which was intended for v1.5 I believe).

I understand that v1.0 is great because i can run unsigned code, etc. BUT, the scene hasn't really been producing anything useful to me, because it is all intended for v1.5. (Not a complaint, just an unfortunate fact for those of us with v1.0) Several forums have discussed that you are really lucky if you have v1.0, and never to upgrade, but at the moment I really can't do anything special with it other than wait for those smarter than I to create loaders that work.

So the dilemma is, do I just play MG for the time being and be patient for the newer versions of the loaders to be made (and hope eventually I can use one of them), or just give up on v1.0 altogether and join the rest of the world and upgrade to v1.5 (never to return to v1.0)???

Hmmmm....

Please and Thanks for your input!
