is a private torrent site a greater risk of getting in trouble with the mpaa and riaa? i just don't want an easy way to get cuaght cuz i signed up.

Dude, your a senior member, at least fix your sig...
You are only at a higher risk if the compnay decides to sell out its members if they are raided.
As CTh said, if you dont want to get caught, dont do it, private or public.

IP adress, sorry I wasnt more clear, but they would have to have the cooperation of your ISP.

so they recrod your ip, peargaurdian woudn't protect your ip from them then?

No peerguardian would not block your IP adress from the private sites, but the MPAA/RIAA would need your ISP's cooperation to get the information for your IP adress.
