GTA Liberty City - Does it force an update? i have v1.5

Does this game force you to update the firmware? or will it play as normal on a v1.5?

From what I've been hearing is that there isn't a way to play liberty cities wthout updating. using firmware changing utilities and loading an iso with umd emulator doesn't work. I haven't got a copy of the game yet myslef to test this. If anyone else tries it, please let us know.

ARTiSAN (the guys who ripped it) state right in the nfo file that no current loaders actually work with the game. Odds are the game requires an update and has a sniffer to see if the version number is just aritificially changed.

I give it a week, tops, before they figure out a way around it.

I will buy the game but dont want to update my firmware as I run homebrew stuff

Have just read this game requires upgrade to v2.0 or higher

Have downloaded a patch not sure if it works though

I've been reading up on this and it appears that the prboelm (or at least one of them) is that GTa uses a certain codec for audio and video files that are only available in firmware 2.0 and up. Even if you could get by the required version, a 1.5 psp won't have the necessary codecs to play the game. This seems to be a popular game, so I'm sure someone will come up with something. For now, you'll need to upgrade to 2.0 to play the game and downgrade if you want to run homebrew.
