I read today on gamespot that one of main heads at Nintendo (Satoru Iwata i think) said that if The Revolution doesnt outsell the gamecube it will be considered a "complete failure". I think the gamecube has sold something around 18million units so far. Im thinking because of the new ideas and innovations theyre likely to bundle with the rev it might just do that. People seem to be more intrigued by what the Rev has to offer over Xbox360 and PS3 in gaming terms compared to what people thought when the gamecube came out against the Xbox and PS2. I always thought that although i loved the gamecube its basically broke down to people thinking
Xbox --> best graphics, best online play
PS2 --> best range of games for whole family
Gamecube --> fun, but for the younger audience
The Rev will likely break this trend of thought and open up new gaming features which i think could see sells shoot up. Im a sucker for new technology and ideas so ill defo get a rev, saying that ill probably just buy all 3 consoles
Anyone think it will out or wont outsell the gamecube? If so, why?..im interested to hear people thoughts
p.s. The article said that it wont be released until after April 06 , which is the beginning on the year for Nintendo.

Article also said that Nintendo aim to have a Global release date, or at the very least, near global, like the xbox360

xbox doesnt have a global release, and rev is fighting in its own terms, its not looking to be a primary console like ps3 or xbox, but a secondary "gadget" u might say, they know they cant be considered a serious console with that controller, but wanna be an unexpensive cunsule that u buy after u get the ps3 or xbox, and have fun with from time to time

the 360 doesnt have exact global release but thats why i said "near global".. the release dates across the world are only a few days weeks apart..whereas consoles in the past were released months before in japan and such..sure even the psp was released a few months before america and europe. And if anything the 360 and ps3 will be seen as multifeature "gadgets" rather than the Rev which is a soley gaming console. And like i sed before im more of an 360 boy that a rev fan..but i do agree that most people will buy either a 360 or ps3 and then a Rev.

im gona go ahead and disagree, i think most ppl will buy either a ps3 or xbox360, AND a rev as a secondary system, u got it backwards, the rev is the one thats more like a litle plaything not the 360 or ps3 wich look more like home theater centers, i know for sure that if the rev is good when it comes out im getting it, and i already ordered my 360 a long time ago

I agree that the Rev. will be the alternative system next to the x360 and ps3. I will still buy it becasue it is nintendo and its the only system you can play mario titles. But It will come after all my other systems, just like the gamecube. My gamecube sat around for months, and finally I played mario baseball. Great game.

I hope so. I know that I am more excited for the release of the "Revolution" than I was for the "Dolphin".
Still, I wasn't one to be dissappointed with the Gamecube. I've had great times playing it. I'll probably have a few more before I begin to play the next gen consoles.

it depends if the rumors are true that the price will be 100-150$ bundled with mario, and WHOA have you seen the metroid prime screenshots. parents can buy a rev for 100$ with a game for their kids bday and xmas also someone thats not serious about gaming but likes to play with alot of friends at a party, and with full backward compatibility guys that like the old school gamesit will be perfect of course it will sell more than the gamecube. also not as a dis but fishing games would be AWESOME!!!!! if fishing games come out i'll for sure buy one

I just read some rather dissappointing news about the Revolution Specs, although I'm not sure if I believe them or not. Included were "confirmation" of only 107mb Ram, GPU and CPU clock speeds only double of the GC, and a release date of November 2006.
News came from IGN.
They aren't anything close to even the least flattering of previous rumors...
oh how I hope every single part of the IGN article was false. They even said nothing is for certain...
Then again, IGN's new revolution section is pretty sweet with some good points regarding the Rev.

to be honest im kinda disappointment with the "graphical powerhouses" of the 360 and im assuming the PS3 wont be so much better.. to be honest i thought we would be at FMV quality rendering at this point. Im the first to say that the games dont fulfill the power of the 360 and such but at the end of the day its the games that im playing not the consoles potential power..so if the games arent up to standard then the console is gonna look sub standard.. anyways got a lil side tracked..my point was suppose to be i dont mind playing games that dont look as good as long as theyre more fun..id love to play an fps on the REV.. to be honest ive played better looking games on my PC than what ive seen on the 360..

lets be honest with the graphic specs revealed lets not even put nintendo in the same catagory as the ps3 or x360. (not an insult)its more like those games that you plug right in to the tv that have all the old school games. we can compare those easier both are for kids both are cheap both play old school games, both have cool controllers, heck the rev is awesome i cant wait to play mario, donkey kong, zelda, metroid prime
does anyone know if you can get n64 games for it, then i cant wait to play perfect dark and star wars pod racer.
also the since the rev is cheap new games are gonna be about $20 and the old games you download about $5-10

I would price the games closer to $40 because it's still using a dual layer dvd-type disk much like the 360.

If you can download games, it means that the Rev will have a HD, and that means it might be able to play DVDs, or it might mean its going to be customizable like the ond XBOX (dashboards, and so on...)
Sony PS2 (Playstation 2) Slimline (V12) GH-035-71
Sony Playstion 2 Region: NTSC (North America - USA and Canada)
DVD-/+R: Verbatim DVD-/+R 1x-8x 4.7GB MCC and PRO-DATA DVD-R 4x 4.7GB
DMS4 Lite Modchip + ToxicBIOS Ver. 1.3 + Possible Fix
Dual Shock Controller
Dual Shock 2 Controller
8MD Memory Card
Burner: Sony DVD RW DW-D26A
Software: DVDDecrypter, Nero, and Alcohol 120%

It will have 512mb build in flash memory. A DVD peripheral might come out for the Revolution, but it will be an optional add-on type of thing. The USB ports could be used for further memory and storage.
It will also come in different colors.

if the rev fails... tendo will live on in my heart. But I've heard that if nintendo fails, they might become an "all hand-held" buisness.
return of NO!

it sure would beable to fall back on the handheld market. in the handheld market nintendo owns 72% (GBA 41% DS 31%) and sony only owns 28% with the psp

i think te down fall of the Gamecube was that there wasnt a way to burn games. i think with the revoutions new nun-chuk style remote with the whole thing being wireless and that you will be able to download snes nes and n64 games it will defenetly out do the gamecube. i like the way you can interact with the game controll but come on fishing games who wants that its so old fashioned maybe baseball and hockey but not basketball and car games. they need to change the bottom button to x and the big a button to y and have a and b close. i like on the joypad attachment how they have put z 1 and 2 that will be like l r but they will need to get the programers to side with them about the remote. i'll buy one but i'll also have a ps3 well for the xbox 360 its shit.
