Optorite DVD writer shakes and makes weird noises.

Hi all.

My dvd burner started shaking my whole computer when it tries to read any discs. Also, when the disc tray opens I hear a scraping noise. It can no longer read discs (well I havent left a disc in there long enough to find out cause the loud noises scared me!!!). Its a year old now. Is there anything I can try, or should I just replace it?

just replace it, i used to have an Optorite DD1205, yes, it WAS a piece of crap~ :) it was my very 1st burner and it stopped reading/burning after a few months...

optorites' just aren't good quality drives, the build quality is very shabby and the tech.support/customer service is NON-EXISTENT...so, do yourself a favor, have a look around in this forum, there are MANY quality drives that are inexpensive, consider that and DO NOT buy Optorite again~ :)
