I just recently got a Plextor PX740a and I want to upgrade the firmware.I was reading reviews online about the drive and some people said that after they upgraded the firmware that it stopped working. Can someone tell me the correct steps, do I just run the exe. file or is there some wizard that comes up or do I have to turn certain things off etc.As you can tell I am very new to firmware upgrading. Ive never had to do this with my previous drive although I think it might come in handy this time around. Thanks in advance to all that reply. your time and effort is greatly appreciated.

When I upgraded mine for my LG all I did was download the upgrade to my desktop and double click on it and it self installed as it was an .exe

I would think that that would work for you too.

Make sure: There is no disc in the drive,close out the programs, shutdown background programs, it is the correct firmware from a reputatabe site,and make sure no thunderstorms/ice storms in the vicinity,LOL

I just updated my new benq 1640 and did it exactly like 9mmruger1 did. Pretty simple.
