If anyone else has the new hard drive from datel:
I seem to be having some trouble with music playback from the drive, Every 20-30 seconds or so I get a little "skip" in the music, just a second of pause, and then it resumes again. If anyone else has the new 4gb hdd hard drive from datel, please let me know. Thanks.

i dont know where i read this but i have heard that the hard drive has a very low read speed and that the skip not only occurs when playing music but also movies..... I also hear that this product is very poor quality and not worth the money

so far the video is playing fine, and the read speed is actually faster than a umd, Its just the music. all the music I have is recorded at a high bitrate (320 I believe), and that may be causing the problem.

you are correct in that the read speed is much much slower than a memory stick, but it is just as much faster than the umd as it is slower than the mem card. I just got my hands on a copy of "bohemian rhapsody" @ 96kbps, I will post my success or failure in a moment.

the song at 96 kbps still skips, but not nearly as often, or for nearly as long. kinda disappoints me, but I was planning on using it for movies and games anyways. If anyone has another idea for solving this problem please let me know. Thanks.

Also, the videos work fine because it is constantly reading from the hdd, whereas the music seems to just read every once in a while (and each time it reads the music skips).
