OK, so I've heard problems with updating to 2.0 off of the GTA umd. Well I'm updating as I type this. I had massive trouble with it, but somehow with no text on the screen, I managed to stumble through the updater. I have heard that some people who updated form the disk was actually updating to something newer than 2.0. Give me a few mins and I'll let you know what I get.

OK, sothe update is done and it's 2.0....whew. I was really freaking there for a while. Well I'm gonna play some GTA for a bit. I might even test drive some of the featuresof 2.0, but I'm sure I'll go back to 1.5. I've got the downgrader and 1.5 firmware ready to go ;)

when i try to update, i go to the playstation.com site, and then i download the software for it, and then i either download it and unzip it then save it in the update folder in my games folder, or just save it directly to the update folder, neither has worked for me, do you think you could send me the program you downloaded?

well the unzipping part sounds good. It's not so much a program though, it's a file called eboot.pbp. Once it's saved in the UPDATe folder, you should be able to go to (on the psp) games and slect the memory stick. You should see an option for the updater. Let me know at what step you're running into trouble. If you need the 2.0 firmware, get it here http://www.psp-hacks.com/downloads.php#firmware

ps. When I went to the official site, I only saw a download for 2.5.....DON'T UPDATE to 2.5!!

I'm having the same problem as millz.

I've tried updating via the update on the GTA UMD and by downloading the eboot file. Both times I end up with no text.

Any help would be much appreciated.

millz,

Just figured it out. I don't why this works... but it did for me.

Go to your "System Settings" and select "Restore Default Settings". After doing that I was able to see the update screen text. Good luck.
