Having using 6 different dvd-rw drives:
3 are benqs and the other 3 are: I/O magic 16x made by EMPA,Kypermedia +8x,and HP 640c Lightscribe. All the different stand alones I played on had trouble with all those drives, but the benqs.Usually no disc inserted errors on certain formats of certain burners. No freezing or pixellating problems on any of those stand alones using the quality media burned at 4x burn, just compatability issues.
I am unfamiliar with dvd-ram.
What media are your using?:Brand name/format/and speed rate. An exact MID code would be helpful.nero infotool/dvd decrypter/dvdidentifier/dvdinfopro will all tell you that MID code.
How fast did your burn it?
Any multi-tasking?
Any paper/sticker labels?
That disc that freezes: Any fingerprints or smudges of any kind?
Trouble shooting steps:
You've got a different burner, therefore may like different brand name/format/or even a certain MID code compared to last dvd-rw/ram drive.
1)Update to the latest firmware. Many drives have older FW right out of the box.
2)Keep speed at 4x,no multi-posting,clean the disc, and no using paper labels
3)Make sure hard drive is defragged.
4a)Verify your media quality.Standalone is having difficulty with those new dvd-ram drive backups,so something is wrong, change to quality media if yours turns out to be on the crappier MID code side.
4b)You've verified those backups in your stand alone/s:Take note of where the freezing takes place.Play that backup on other stand alones and keep an eye on those freezing areas.See if they give you the same issue.
Now verify on your LG drive, also take note of where those issues take place.Use your dvd playing program like windvd or powerdvd and view that susectipible area of freezing. These should view near perfect on that LG drive.
5)Use nero speed test/or dvdinfopro:Run test scans for errors.
The main thing is Verify. Find out exactly what machine/s are showing those freezing/jumping/and pixellation issues. That player is recognizing your backup, just something about it that it doesn't like.
If after all those trouble shooting tips don't help or 1 certain stand alone is at fault,a laser lens cleaning. That cleaning would be the last resort, next to purchase of new stand alones.LG makes quality/booktype capable backups so this also helps ruling out quality of drive.
