I have a small, but annoying problem (sorry for my English).
While dragging Nero Burning ROM window, cursor changes to four headed arrow and usually does not turn back to normal arrow.
Then I have to open Mouse control panel to reset the cursor.
This error is true even for complately disabled video hardwear acceleration.
I do not believe I am only user having this trouble, but it seems noone have reported it. Anyway, search on errors while dragging Nero brings up topics about dragging files into Nero...
By the way, when this error occurs Nero window also shows it is maximized although it is not. Pressing restore button and then maximize, and then restore button again returns it into different size and position on screen.
Maybe this dragging of window while it is maximized runs program and entire Windows (XP) into undescribed state.
I have two monitors. Maybe it thinks it is on one monitor while it is on other. I have NVidia GeForceMX 400 video card. But I think I remember this trouble with different video cards too.
Another complain which is not resolvable I just want to mention is numerous stupid OK and Done confirmations button pressing requirement.
Quite often I manually remove cd or dvd from tray and put another medium and close the drive door to discover that OK and Done buttons are still on screen. When I press one of theese the Nero of course first spins up and then ejects my newly inserted medium.
This error can be partially solved by disabling eject when done options in preferances, but this can lead to burning of one disk over another.
Noone can imagine what Nero can do with disks when you press Burn button and wait while Nero will eject your previous disk to put an empty one.
Twice it have erased and rewrited me a full rewriteable dvd of valuable backup documents with movie. And once it even overwritted me a full CD-R (not CD-RW) audio cd whith anothere copy of the same cd just because the previous one was not ejected, the writer was not reset and assumingly was not aware of what is doing. Of course the double burned cd did not play although it was the same project.
Who can tell why Nero spins up the disk before ejecting. As far as I know it is the only program which does it. What can it look for on disk. Does it makes some unreferenced notes? As I told it does not prevent Nero from ejecting the disk after ejectable disk has already been ejected manually. I have not tryed if it ejects an empty tray.
Actually if somebody would ask me I would not recomend Nero for anyone one who cares for their data. It just consumes less CPU, performs better, now supports 4 devices, and all the latest hardwear, and burns data without making the image first and supports most formats and can burn even a Mac HD under Windows. And this makes Ahead think they do not have to care for the interface or maybe it is perfectly comfortable (I do not want to be offensive here) for Germans. They are so great perfectionists so they never forget to remove valuable data from medium before opening Nero and they like pressing numerous buttons.
But I know one program which is German and does eject disk after it has been burned not after user (which is only logically) preses the button and waits for burner to speed disk up. It is Feurio.
